Condition: Item is used in fair condition commensurate with age, see photos. Some small pieces of enamel appear to be missing from around the edges of the dish.
Subject: An enameled cast brass dish in the form of a fish by mid-20th Century Mexican designer Pepe Mendoza. The cloisonné style enamel is in greens and blue evocative of malachite, lapis lazuli, and turquoise, arranged in a scale pattern. Mendoza's studio was known for blending Pre-Columbian design elements with a modernist sensibility.
I saw a similar example on display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on 4 FEB 2018.
