Type: Soba Choko (そば猪口, soba sauce dipping cup, commonly also used as a tea cup (yunomi) or sake cup (guinomi))
Material: Porcelain
Age: Edo Period (1603 - 1868). Koki period soba choko spanned the final 78 years of Edo (1789–1867). The underside base featured an 'eyeball' style circle (Janome kodai), used kiln marks, had decorative inner borders, and also featured at the time decorative top rims.
Origin/Maker: Arita ware 有田焼 / Imari ware 伊万里焼, Arita, Saga Prefecture (formerly Hizen Provence), Japan. Kiln stamp mark (mikomi-moyo) inside cup.
Size: 2 3/8" tall (6.0325 cm), 3" diameter (7.62 cm)

Subject: Antique Edo Period Arita porcelain soba choko (soba sauce dipping cup, commonly also used as a tea cup (yunomi) or sake cup (guinomi)), with maker's mark on the inside, brown glaze around the top rim, and a landscape scene in underglaze blue and white (sometsuke) around the outside with designs of pine trees, birds, a house, and a mountain. The base has a 'eyeball' style circle (Janome kodai).
