Yuzo Shimizu 清水勇蔵 inherited the name "Sekisen" 石仙, and the first, second, and third generations all used the same name.
The first Shimizu Sekisen was a kiln owner of Onko-yaki pottery (now probably most famous for their ceramic mask netsuke, formerly made in Akasaka, Gifu Prefecture), mainly producing sencha and matcha tea sets. The second Sekisen (real name Shimizu Yuzo) moved to Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, and began producing sencha tea sets and other items using Tokoname ware. It is said that the second Sekisen preferred to work with vermilion clay rather than Onko-yaki pottery. The second Shimizu Sekisen (real name Shimizu Kindo), born in 1914 (Taisho 3), is the fourth son of the second Sekisen.
