Condition: Item is used in fair condition commensurate with age, see photos. No cracks or chips. Some light surface wear and scratches. Original to manufacture small crack to edge (glazed over) and three stilt marks to base. Has a plastic and metal hanger glued to the reverse.
Subject: Small Minpei Awaji ceramic dish. With a diamond lozenge shape, with an amber yellow glaze, and tako karakusa vine and flower designs in the middle panel of the dish. Minpei ware like this is fairly rare outside Japan, as unlike most Awaji ware, it seems to have been retained mostly for Japanese domestic use, and not for export to the west. Pieces now demand high prices in Japan due to their bright designs and utility in the kitchen as small plates.
